What did you know about the Motherhood until you became a mother? These days I look back at the 20-year old me thinking: What did you do with all your free time? Today between a full-time job, blogging, video producing, laundry, lunches and dinners, home chores, I have no time to take a shower (you probably didn’t need to know that). Maybe the twenty-year-old me was over independent and uber-ambitious, but the tired almost 40-year-old version of me would take any help she can get.
One of these helpful tools is a topic of our today’s conversation, and it is called Ropazi.
Ropazi is a messaging-based personal shopper for moms, and I had a chance to talk with Sophia Salim and Nauman Qureshi, wife-and-husband co-founders of Ropazi.
Why would you need a shopping assistant? I don’t know about you, but just in the last three weeks I placed three orders for children’s clothes, and I get amazed every time I shop how long it takes for me to pick the clothes I need to buy. There is just no quick in – quick out. I know I am not alone – the founders of the Ropazi service interviewed and surveyed over 1,500 moms across the US to understand their pain points when it comes to shopping for their kids.
How Does It Work?
As I mentioned before, Ropazi is the message-based personal shopping. It uses machine learning and pattern matching to learn what a shopper likes, and make the process as easy as possible for them. With Ropazi, every experience is personalized for the mom, because the software knows her preferences and can learn more with every purchase.
Of course, you can continue shopping the old way if you are enjoying the process that much. Me? I would swap pointless, time-consuming browsing for the right styles and sizes in a second. There is no app to download it’s purely over SMS text-messaging.
Go to Ropazi.comx landing page and sign up with your cell phone number.
You will receive a text message like this.
Over the course of a few texts, Ropzai will figure what is needed.
You will get three different styles of clothing, curated specifically for your child based on the age and gender. Look at the pictures, give your feedback and get what you want quick and easy. If the life gets on the way, that is fine – come back to messaging when you can and finish the process (I promise it won’t time out on you).
A sale can typically take less than 20 text messages; it can happen fast or over as long a period.
Where are the clothes coming from?
For a lot of moms, this is the coolest part. Ropazi works with a lot of independent labels (indie brands) who have a unique designs and styles to offer. That the brands ship products directly to you, but you shop in one place and pay it only once. Ropazi works independent designers. A lot of indie clothing brands are still using old school methods to sell their products, like going to trade shows and working with wholesalers to get their merchandise to physical stores. Everything is going online now, though, and many indie designers aren’t able to break into the web markets.
Ultimately, Ropazi created almost an Etsy for independent brand kids clothing, but with a personal touch and a much smaller markup than a wholesaler would. Many moms like the fact that the quality of these clothes is higher since they’re made in small batches and also that they’re helping out small businesses.
