With two kids at home, I have a more difficult time than I’d like to admit finding time for fitness. Yes, there is the fitness center near us. But it’s hard to convince my kids to get out of the house to go there (and it’s sometimes even hard to convince myself). We are also fortunate to have a home treadmill. But while I do love to use it, it’s hard to do with my kids around. Excuses, excuses, right? I just need something simple to use that I can do in my own home and even while my kids are nearby.
I was recently able to try the Body Bar FLEX – a very simply looking bar that can be used for balance, flexibility, and resistance training. Finally, something I can both use and store in my house easily.
The Body Bar FLEX allows you to vary resistance from 0 to 10 pounds for each hand depending on how far you bend it. It’s made of a nice easy-to-grip rubber material and contains a fiberglass bar that allows it to flex.
So what did I think? First and foremost I love the simplicity of the Body Bar FLEX . It’s lightweight and something I feel comfortable using around my kids and storing easily in any room. I also love how it can be used in so many different ways – sitting, standing, or on the floor and for various types of exercise depending on if you are looking for flexibility, strength, or balance.
My husband is looking forward to trying it out for golf-related flexibility exercises and other family members are familiar with the Body Bar products from post-surgery physical therapy sessions. It is even lightweight enough that seniors and kids could use it as well. It also comes with a chart detailing the exercises as well as a DVD so you can get started right away. I’m hoping that having the Body Bar FLEX in our house will keep us motivated with some fun new exercises as we head into winter!
