Nursery Rhymes DVD – Review

I recently came across a DVD at the library I watched as a child and it just brought all the childhood memories back to live. Technology has been advancing so fast, it is seems unreal. How can it possibly be compared to the programming from our childhood? How can a washed dated character compete with a hilarious squirrel that looks unbelievably real?

I don’t quite understand why, but my daughter who is almost 5 doesn’t differentiate a between 2012 and 1985 movies.  Some of her favorite cartoons are Spiderman and His Amazing Friends, Super Mario. And here is another one – The Classic Nursery Rhymes Collection. Originally created in 1982, it is just has been released on DVD.

BabyFirst has acquired the rights to air clips from the best-selling franchise, “The Classic Nursery Rhymes Collection.” The short musical vignettes features classic tales such as “Old MacDonald,” “Pop Goes the Weasel” and “Mary Had A Little Lamb” – all animated and set to beautifully arranged music by Ocean Music. The new series will air as part of BabyFirst’s Art & Musicdaily block, which is designed to introduce tots to creative arts.

Dinner and Movie Kids Style

70 traditional songs and rhymes are on the DVD in the form of a pop-up book. Simple animation might look primitive – remember it was creates 30 years ago – but it brings old rhymes to live - Humpty Dumpty, Jack and Jill, Hey Diddle Diddle, Little Bo Peep, and so many more…

Great thing – it is great entertainment for even younger kids. Unlike modern cartoons, it won’t wind them up – on the contrary, it will help them to get ready for sleep. If your kids like mine are obsessed with TV, this would make a great winding down show to watch.

We know our young viewers love music, and this particular series also offers a trip down memory lane for parents. We’re happy to bring Ocean Music’s property to our network,” said Arik Kerman, EVP of Programming and New Media at BabyFirst.

The funniest thing, my almost 3-year old is convinced that the animal jumping over the moon is an elephant, so every time the cow makes it’s flying jump, he declares ”ELEPHANT”

Thank You Nursery Rhymes for giving us some peace and quite
