2/9 Week of creating a healthier version of you in 300 words or less

5 points to embed into your brain today to keep you going through temptations and help you become a healthier person

Here is a really good reason you should NOT commit to a healthy lifestyle – you have to get proactive. You know once you start  drinking 8-10 cups of water a day, you will have to do it every day. By going for a 30 minute walk, you are actually committing to a life full of 30 minute walks. By skipping your first desert and avoiding your first fatty dip, you are saying no to a thousand of desserts and cases tons of dip.

You know why you want to do – you want to be healthy and happy. So how do you keep our eyes on the long-term goal and not get side-tracked by “It’s just a cookie” and “Ketchup is a vegetable, right?”

I'll Stay fat because FIRST THINGS ARE DAMN HARD

So here are my 5 points for the week:

  1. Instead of looking forward to the faraway image of yourself in your ideal weight, look forward to the dress that is a size too small. Take a picture of it and keep it on your phone. If you want it bad enough, it will happen
  2. You know which healthy food makes you happy. Pre-cut it and keep it in the fridge. When the craving hits, go for it – it’s your defense plan.
  3. Make your defense food a quality food. Nobody craves carrots or cucumbers, so if you put carrots and cucumbers on your defense plate, supplement it with delicious almond butter or something else healthy yet good.
  4. Treat your body nice every day. You bought that lotion for a reason. There is no better way of saying Thank You to your body, than we caring.
  5. Celebrate Victories. No, a piece of cheesecake does not qualify as a celebratory food. Find what else makes you happy. Plan your rewards in advance and go for it.

That defense plan is my weak spot. I need to get better at that having foods already prepared and ready for me to snack on.

Having your favorite health foods ready to consume is critical- It’s how I avoid my cravings!

Your tip on pre-cut foods is genius! That has been one of my biggest helps on my weight loss journey!

Ketchup is not only a vegetable, but it’s also a smoothie. 😉

I have an outfit from my pre-baby days that I keep in my closet to remind myself it IS possible to be thinner!

You make a lot great points here. These are easy things we can all do to stay on track. But, for me, who is an emotional binge eater, making my defense food a quality food has been a struggle.

I have fallen off track a bit this week. This is a great post for me. I really need to figure out my small goals and celebrate my victories instead of being so hard on myself for setbacks.

It’s definitely not easy to stay on track. I struggle with snacking all the time. I like the idea of keeping things precut.

I am working really hard at incorporating more veggies in my kids diet. Serving them with Almond Butter might be the trick.

And I also feel that I like the texture of almond butter a lot too

Great ideas! It’s easy to say you are going to do it, but following through is tough! The rewards ideas is something I’ve been wanting to try.

Love your 5! I really like the idea of having a healthy food that you know is your go to and ready to go. That’s one of my weaknesses – when I want something, I want it fast!
