Best Places for Cheap Holiday Decor

My favorite part of decorating is reminiscing as we pull out the decorations for years past. My kids love hearing the stories about the items from when I was little. My second favorite part of decorating for the Holidays is adding new decor that my kids help pick out. Those new decorations can add up quickly but, if you know where to look you can easily add to your collection without spending a lot of money.

Zulily–

Zulily is free to join and has items discounted up to 60%. They also have great deals on holiday decor.

Michaels–

Michaels runs great sales and I love that you can stack their coupons on top of the sales as well.

Hobby Lobby–

Hobby Lobby has a huge selection of Holiday decor. My favorite part is that their stuff usually goes on sale long before the Holiday season starts. Grab their coupon!

Kohls–

Kohls always seems to have a ton of Holiday decorations and being able to stack their coupons with sales. Plus, Kohls cash is always a bonus.

Dollar Tree–

I love that everything here is $1. You can get a lot for a little bit of money.

Etsy–

Etsy has a wide array of items on all points of the price scale. You can find some pretty awesome items, some even personalized, for decent prices.

Amazon–

Amazon is creeping into the Holiday decor scene. You can order what you need and it will show up at your door in just a couple of days. I love that since our household has prime many items have free shipping.

Ebay–

Ebay has many Holiday decor options available most for really great prices. You can bid on items that would be nice to have and wait it out or, you can find items and buy them right away.

Target –

Target has a fantastic selection of Holiday decor. This is where I go if I am looking for unique decor items. Often times you can check the cartwheel app and get a discount on certain items. Their after Holiday sales are really good too.

Walmart –

Walmart has a decent selection of Holiday decorations. I have found some items on the pricier end of things but, I have found some pretty amazing deals as well.

Home Improvement Stores –

Home improvement stores like Home Depot, Menards and Lowes are like hidden gems for those larger lawn decorations. You can find good prices and they often offer discounts as well.

Club Stores–

Stores like Costco and Sams have a few decorations during the holiday season as well.

Catalogs–

Catalogs may seem kind of dated for some people but, they offer some pretty amazing prices for a lot of their Holiday decor. One of my favorites is Lakeside Collections. Yes, you have to wait a while for your items to show up but, the discounted prices you can find are worth it. If you don’t get a physical copy of a catalog many can be found online too.

Drug Stores–

Drug stores like Walgreens and CVS typically have a small selection of Holiday decor too.

Resale Pages–

Local resale pages on Facebook will typically have a lot of Holiday decor as well. The prices here are hit or miss. Most of the time people want to get rid of it but, there are people who are asking way too much for their items.

Estate Sales–

Estate sales are easily overlooked. However, they can be a great place to find Holiday decor for your home at a low price. Some sales do have higher prices but, many are very reasonable.

Party Supply Stores–

Party supply stores  often carry Holiday themed items and their prices are pretty reasonable. Even if you order online, shipping is fairly reasonable as well.

Thrift Stores–

When people are ready to purge their collections the good majority of them send their items to thrift stores. You can get great items for a very discounted price.

Garage Sales-

Garage sale season is coming to an end here in the Midwest but, they can be a great way to pick up Holiday decor for great prices.

Make Your Own–

Making your own decorations can save a lot of money. You can make larger indoor and outdoor items or, you can have your kids make smaller decorations.

The Road–

When people don’t know what to do with an item it is commonly set out on the curb waiting for the next trash pick up day. Sometimes things need a little bit of fixing up and other times, the items are in great working order. If you see something you are interested in pull over and check it out.

Consignment Shops–

Consignment shops can be a great place to find Holiday decor as well. Finding Holiday decor at a consignment shop is hit or miss as their inventory depends on what others bring in. If there is Holiday decor there the prices are reasonable.

Other Tips

Use Coupons

Just like other items you regularly shop for, coupons can be a big help when it comes to shopping for new Holiday decor. You can find coupons in fliers, online (either to print or mobile) or by contacting retailers.

Sales

After the Holiday season has passed, stores offer discounted items. This is the time to pick up those larger items you may not find elsewhere.

Negotiate

Don’t be afraid to ask for a lower price. This can apply to anything from resale groups to actual stores. If you find an item on a resale page, you can offer a price that you feel is fair. At stores, if you find a box or package that is damaged you can ask for a discount on the item.

Your house can look fantastic this Holiday season without having to spend an arm and a leg. There are many ways you can get around the higher price tags. I hope some of these tips help you save a lot of money on your Holiday decor.
