Children’s Museum of Indianapolis – Indianapolis, IN
Not just a place for kids as we adults will certainly enjoy the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis too. The unique building screams out fun with dinosaurs trying to climb into the building design. They have a Willy Wonka inspired wonderland where you can ride down a chocolate slide. This place is known for being one of the best children’s museums in the country, and it is easy to see why. When visiting you must check out their exhibit called Dinosphere. Any dinosaur fan will love it here. There are also great shows for children changing year round too.
COSI (Center of Science and Industry) – Columbus, OH
Both a museum and a research center COSI is a great place for children to learn new things. There are about 300 hands-on exhibits here that talk about space, gadgets and so much more. There are also tons of role-playing options for the little ones, which is essential for child’s development and will give you a minute to relax. Role playing also teaches kids to make sense of life experiences. There is an excellent place called “Little Kid Space” where your little ones can run out all of their energy in their playground.
Minnesota Children’s Museum – St. Paul, MN
This museum is going through construction and will be open again in June 2017. While it is under construction, before going through a major renovation, it is one of the best children’s museums in the US. So can you imagine what the new improvements will bring? Located in the Mall of America, this museum is truly a must see. It will feature a four-story climbing adventure called The Scramble. There will also be a bigger toddler gallery and even a ninja training center along with a carpet skate park. With so much to do and see, you may find yourself making this visit a two day one.
Discovery Center Museum – Rockford, IL
This museum is all about discovery – which is what kids do best! There are over 250 hands-on art and science exhibits your children can participate in. There is a Tot Spot that is made especially for toddlers as well an amazing two-story maze that is 8,000 square feet big! Kids will love playing in their water area and dig for dinosaur fossils. There are tons of rotating events and activities so make sure you check out their calendar before you go.
