Many of us turn heads when an old car drives by. You might even try to snap a picture next to it if the opportunity presents itself (I know my husband does that). However, here are some bikes that would make you say: How in the world they thought of that? Are these even bicycles? Think of this: a vehicle that is operated by pedaling supports healthy life style, saves money, and is fun way of moving around.
Velomobile Bicycle
Velomobiles can offer a higher level of mobility than the motor car, need no fossil fuel, cause no pollution, have full weather protection, and have higher comfort and safety than a conventional bicycle. The trick is to combine a full fairing for weather protection and aerodynamics with lightweight practical design. It is a fascinating concept, and challenges the supposed advantages of the motorcar. The velomobile is a human scale alternative which can catch the attention of the vast non-cycling public. Some velomobile owners ride 10-20,000 km per year, more than many car drivers.
Solar Bicycle

This is still a bike: it has pedals and you can get a great workout pedaling. However, the inventor of this bike started this project because he loved cycling, but didn’t like climbing steep hills.
Conference Bicycle
San Francisco-based artist Eric Staller built a bike for eight people as an art piece. He wanted to take his work out of the gallery and into the streets. His multi-person cycle got so much attention he decided to commercialize it as a bike for seven. In Oregon, one school district uses it as a tool to fight obesity.
Water Bicycle
Imagine a world in which waterbikes are as ubiquitous as bicycles, and people use them for leisure, tourism, commuting, fitness, racing as they do now with bikes.
Roll Over Bicycle
Mr. Pedalsworth — the undisputed King of Bizarre Bicycles! With or without a doubt Mr. Pedalsworth has many Bicycles you and your customers have NEVER seen the likes of. No one in their right mind would even own one of these contraptions, but then again no one ever accused Mr. Pedalsworth of being in the “right” state of mind. He just goes about his business of collecting, building and creating one of a kind Bicycles that can only be described as
“rolling ART”.
I guess I’m just a two wheel kind of gal.
Those are the weirdest, most innovative bikes I’ve ever seen! Great eye candy but you won’t find my bum riding one LOL
I wouldn’t mind having a Solar Bike!! I dislike going up hill on my bike too! And that one last bike…I’d probably will always be found on my side with the bike on top of me!
Great post!
I think these are really cool! I wonder if it really gets anyone more excited about exercising?
I want to ride on the conference bike!
Unique but don’t think I would try any of it!
Just the other weekend I rode one of those four person surrey bikes along Lake Michigan. They also had bikes for six and eight people. The eight person ones are HUGE and take up most of the sidewalk area, but they look like a lot of fun. – Katy
The Conference Bicycle is just plain awkward, but the last one looks fun!
I think those look all sorts of awesome! HOw fun!
I just love the CONFERENCE BIKE! Where Can I get one?? Funny!
Love these! Wish i could see all of Mr Pedalsworths bikes
I’d have to say BOTH! Unique and weird!
Very unique
When I was a kid, we used to always see these pike-type things that had huge plastic wheels pedalling around in the water at the beach. I always thought I’d like to have one of those of my very own. What would I do with it? No idea.
