The summer came and you have realized that you are not at your weight goal. Even worse, you have gotten further away from your goal than when you decided to get your lifestyle in order. This is exactly where I have found myself this summer – my body is definitely not summer ready and my favorite sun loving clothes don’t fit. Gotta love the body and feminine care it demands, but as far as I see, I have two options: I can either try to stuff my body into my old clothes, get completely stressed out, and swear off from going in public until next summer OR I can figure out the way to accept my today’s body and get the most out of summer.
Ready to accept your body with three easy “UPs”?
Step 1 – Dress Up
Instead of trying to get small clothes to work for you, pack it in the box for the next summer (you can even write next Summer for motivation). Get impressed by all the empty space in your closet and let’s go shopping!
Since I plan to rock my old summer clothes next year, but want to look awesome this year, I am heading to a local thrift store. I just discovered Savers and find it an incredibly organized place and very affordable too. Find a good one by you and you might just find a treasure chest of good fitting clothes.
I have found a few very forgiving and curve flattering skirts for $4 each and a couple of tops to go with. I decided to commit to colors and step out of my comfort zone.
Step 2 – Drink Up
We all know how important it is to hydrate, especially in the summer, but do you know that not drinking enough can make your body retain water (that means swollen legs and arms)? I don’t know about you, but I am taking my hydration to a whole new level – I am committing to always have a water bottle handy and drink before I get thirsty.
Step 3 – Move Up
I live in Chicago and that just means that our summers are insanely humid. The last thing I want to do is go outside for a full workout. If the morning greets you with fresh air, that is a great chance to start the day right. However, if you can’t even open the window because of the humidity, just remember to move throughout the day. Kids sure make me go an extra mile chasing them around the house and the playground. We run up and down the stairs and we do a lot of piggy back rides – whatever you do, just keep moving!

Great points! I am trying so hard to accept myself as I am and am struggling with that one.

Unfortunately, I am the same size this summer that I’ve been for a while, but I am motivated to get smaller… so I am not buying any new clothes for myself and using a shopping trip as my carrot for when I meet my first weight loss goal!

These are some great tips! I’m not greeting the summer with the body I wanted either, which is a total let-down since we just moved to the beach. It’s better to be comfortable than uncomfortable, right? Thank goodness Stayfree helps keep us comfortable when we’re shedding! #client
