We received a package from the ABC Yoga for Kids to check out and form our own opinion
I sometimes wish my kids mastered yoga so they can get less aggressive, more focused, and possibly slow down a bit. Do you think this is even possible? I think if my kids learn to do yoga it would benefit their well-being as save my sanity.
Here is a thing – kids yoga is a lot more fun and easy to learn than yoga classes for the grownups (at least in my personal opinion). Kids pretend to be animals, objects, and planes during these classes – cute!
Recently we got a package with a variety of material from ABC Yoga for Kids. Created by Teresa Anne Power this package includes a book for kids, cards, coloring books, and a Guide for Parents and Teachers.
The book for the parents is the greatest part of this set as it explains to anyone the benefits of yoga for kids as well as helps to create a routine. With so many yoga poses how would you know which ones to pick? This book helps to break poses by groups and create a balanced routine – from the warm up to the cool off. And the best part is that anyone without yoga experience can create and supervise a routine.
The second most important part is a set of cards. Each card has a picture and a verse to make a yoga pose into a fun activity – act like a frog, a cow or a dog and let your silliness out. Once you know which poses you want to include into the routine, pick the right cards and here you have your routine. Change it up from time to time to keep it interesting.
The series also includes a coloring book for the kids to keep the fun going along with a poster. These are great bonuses to the program and great motivators for the little ones.
My kids love trying new things and yoga is a great way for me to spend some quality time together. They love picking new poses for the week – a frog, a telephone, and my son’s personal favorite – Do nothing pose.
