Have you heard of Champions for Kids? This organization partners up with different big name companies every month. Up to date 1200 community organizations received support from Champions for Kids. However, these projects are not just about getting the big name companies to shell out some cash to help the poor. It actually shows us how we can help local causes and get help to the hands of people in need.
I would be the first to admit, I want to help so many, but I have a job and family and business and I never have enough. However, what if 5 minutes was enough to help somebody? I am not talking about paypaling money to a third world country. I am a true believer in helping people who live close to us, and I feel especially powerful if somebody else supports my efforts.
This month Kid’s Spinbrush is working with Champion for Kids with their Spin Into Action campaign and they are committed to match your donation by donating a toothbrush for every item you give – up to 1,000 Tooth Tunes™ toothbrushes.
Just for fun check out all the tunes on the website! There are so many songs there to choose from, you might consider buying more than one. And if you do, save few bucks by using a discount coupon (on the website as well).
Did you know?
Arm & Hammer Tooth Tunes is the only toothbrush that pumps two minutes of your favorite music directly through your teeth… straight to your head?
I don’t know about you, but I feel so much better about getting my donation to a person and not 800 number and as a part of this project I was asked to find a great kids organization that would appreciate my help.
If you have been around my site, you might have heard of Mia. This 3-year old with an inoperable brain tumor is a pretty big deal around here. Besides spending time at the Lurie Children Hospital Mia and her family do a lot to raise awareness of good causes in the community. There is a special flat Mia movement is happening around the community. You might see her at the local stores and she is there to remind every day always rushing and still being late people how important it is to help others.
Mia was even chosen to be the local face of the 2013 Children’s Miracle Network corporate campaign. About 250 “flat Mia’s” were made to promote the various campaigns at each location.
Lisa (Mia’s mom):
“Many of these events are driven by employees. During the campaigns we visited MANY locations to meet the employees and thank them in person for all they do for Mia and her fellow Lurie kids. If we are asked to attend anything we jump at the chance to share her story, promote awareness and mostly to THANK everyone.”
Because Mia’s family has done so much for the community, I asked them to bring donations to the kids she knows and plays with at the hospital.
What Should I donate to Kids at the Hospital?
If you decide to do a good deed by donating to a good cause, find the company you want to donate to online and look if they are asking for anything specific. Lurie Hospital has a long wish list for kids of all ages. All I had to do is follow the lead and fill my basket with something kids at the hospital would appreciate.

Last year Lurie Children’s Hospital served children from 49 states and 34 countries. Their medical staff includes 1,245 physicians in 70 pediatric specialties.
Donation Day
Mia and her sister Rachel got very creative with the packages before they took them to the hospital. Don’t you think?

These are super cute & what a great cause.
I often have donated kids playsets we receive for review and feature, as I don’t always have kids in my household. Our donation location of choice is the local UCLA kids hospital, one must just be mindful that all toys are entirely sealed (for sanitation sake with kids with compromised immune systems). Its really great to be able to brighten the day of a child having a rough time, and helps ease the parents’ minds too. I think it is great you could integrate Arm and Hammer into your personal philanthropic mission.
Great shots of Great Donations. The earlier you teach this to your kids the better. A giving heart is essential.
I LOVE when companies give back to the communities.
Great photos. I love that our school regularly donates to our local food bank. The kids feel really good to help out. This looks like a great campaign too.
How cute! Love the pics and it’s great to see companies giving back.
Wow, thank you so much for such a beautiful story! You truly understand the spirit of SIMPLE Service Projects, and it was so touching that you got Mia and her family involved in the donation process. The photos are so inspiring (and those hand-drawn bags are adorable)… kids helping kids is what will make this world a better place! Thank you for all you do – you truly are a Champion for Kids.

What a great cause! I love getting involved with local charities because you can see how they really make a difference.
Aw, they did great decorating the donation bags, too cute. What a great and selfless thing to do. Every child deserves a good toothbrush.
