Roughly a month ago I shared a story of a dog, a great toy, a night light, and a light force of the future. If your kids need help to be brave in the dark, Brobo and his friends are the perfect solution for anyone who can use some help after sundown. And they are so adorable. Started as funny cartoon sketches, these 5 robot friends are “the light force” from the future.”
My son loves his Dog and never goes to sleep without him. However, if you have more than one child, you know that sometimes it is impossible to get around with one toy, especially if it’s loved. My daughter kept telling me that Santa is going to bring her PEP (the pink girl-robot with light). It went on for weeks and I still felt that I had enough time to order the toy. What made it more difficult is that Brobo and his friends are from Canada and haven’t really ventured American market quite yet. However, one day while finalizing my review of the Dog, I realized that Brobo online store is out of stock. Have you ever felt like the worst parent in the world, because you know you won’t be able to deliver something your child really wants? Maybe this is why the guilt makes us do the impossible.
Chasing Canadian Toy
When I found out that PEP was out of stock until January, I didn’t know what to think. It’s not like I could go to Amazon or Ebay to buy it – it simply doesn’t exist on the American market. I am sure it’s not just me – we, the army of moms, do get overly crazy trying to over-deliver on the promise or in some cases actually deliver on the promise with no regards to what it would cost us. I contacted the manufacturer and found out where in Canada they sell these toys. I asked one of my Canadian friends to do some investigative reporting. Finally I found the store in Toronto, called them not even knowing if they would be willing to ship me this toy. We all do crazy things sometimes for the kids and we hope that they appreciate our gifts. I am sure you hate the thought of your kiddo not giving enough attention to a gift you went the extra mile (or ten) for.
“YAY! She better love it!” I hang up the phone and was never happier to pay international shipping and rush charges just to make sure Lightining Force PEP get to Midwest in time for Christmas gift unwrapping activities. It does seem all well worth it when a little girl giggles hugging a pink plush toy, “Mommy! This is the best present EVER! It’s PEP – I love her so much!” I think she does indeed love it, because she goes to sleep with this toy. Since she is going through the “Monster under the bed” stage, it definitely helps to have shining force by your side. I am just happy to get her the best gift ever …. even so Mr. Santa got the credit.
This is an evergreen post, which means, it’s not sponsored by any company. I just wanted to share it with you my readers.
