Christmas Creative

I love decorating for Christmas. The only problem is that every year our condo seems to be getting smaller. No wonder – we live in one bedroom (as we did 10 years ago) with 2 kids. This year we decided to decorate one room (former office/former nursery/former play room) and make it fun.

So let’s go over few things we did this year.

christmas-tree
We do have a bigger tree, but, for now, we can to live with a smaller one. We found a new Christmas corner this year that fits the smaller tree and close to the outlet (no tripping hazard for the pre-lit tree). Also since it is in the corner – there will be less chance of accidental mess (like fallen ornaments or the tree itself)
christmas-shelf

This funky shelf is a dollar treasure from the local flea market and accommodates any seasonal decoration. Anything goes here. Random little things we got over the years get together around the shelf for the holiday. Less things off the floor – less things to clean up.

I like changing the look of the objects that cannot be moved around easy. Normally we keep magazine boxes on top of the hatch, so we decided to scotch tape kids artwork to the visible side of it. Kids love it and help you pick “better” artworks. And yeah, you can change them around once so often.

christms-llights

Don’t forget the accents that add sparkle to the look of the room. I bet it will look much better at night when the lights are on.

christmas-toys

If you kids would let you do this, put a little conversational groups together. Bear and bunny can hang out by the tree. Unbreakable decorations are perfect to put in the bowl or a plate – cheap accent. And that’s a great way to put toys that laying around to a good use

christmas-decorations

Some time ago we started getting Christmas ornaments from the places we visited – gives it that much more meaning to the Christmas Tree decorations. Surprisingly enough, not all the places offer Christmas  decorations. Check out on the top – Dominican Republic’s key chain makes unique decoration too..

When it’s time to clean up, we stick with one plastic tote. Everything fits in it and if it doesn’t, that’s a sign – something has to go.

Decorate and have fun with it!
