3/9 Week of creating a healthier version of you in 300 words or less
5 points to embed into your brain today to keep you going through temptations and help you become a healthier person
I am sure there is a reason why you want to lose weight. But what is waiting for you there on the healthy side of life?
Can you survive without the delicious cupcakes, irresistible dressings, and nights filled of sitcoms? Who will keep you couch warm for you and is it really worth it? Comfort of couch-remote combo for postworkout aches and your whole body screaming “I HATE YOU!” silently?
Here are my 5 points that basically tell you WHY in a world would you torture your body to lose weight:
You want to look good in the mirror.
Instead of the desire to hide all the mirrors in the house (or the world?), you want to spend a few extra minutes enjoying what you see.
You want to appear in family photos.
Admit it, you have volunteered enough times to take family pictures to make sure you are not in it.
You will love the feeling
of dropping off a box of clothes at the Salvation Army store: “These are too big for me.” You might also want to write on the same box NEVER AGAIN.
The next time you tell your child, “I will catch you”,
they will know you mean business. For hugs and kisses or something a little less fun, you will run and feel good doing it.
You want to believe
that you can do it! You might very proud when you save $49.45 on your grocery with coupons, but getting healthy will take your pride to a whole new level.

Losing weight is a very rewarding experience, so long as one can stay realistic and expect the ups and downs. The goal is not to make yourself feel bad when you have a setback, but to celebrate the victories even more!

Excellent perspective. I especially love the point about catching you kids. They always want piggy back rides and I want to continue to have the strength to do it as long as possible.

Shopping for new clothes is a good reason, too. 🙂 All women love excuses to shop. 😉

There are also the scare tactics; lose this weight or your health will suffer, you will be be sick, you have bad knees, bad back, etc. Or heart issues. Those are sometimes effective too. But who likes to have to lose weight for those reasons? I’d rather use your reasons and not have to use the scare tactics.

Honestly, I am working more on accepting myself and feeding my body what it needs rather than what my emotions need. I don’t want to lose weight, I want to find peace with food, and hope weight loss is a byproduct of that 😉
