Simple Solutions – Save potatoes and onions
Cost: $9.99 for a set of 2
Where: Chef Central or Organize.
I rarely go out to eat and always have something home cooked in the fridge. I try to limit my spending on food to $50 a week and hate throwing out unfinished and spoiled. Even so I try to limit the amounts of food I buy, some food does go bad and ends up in the garbage.
What is it about: Sodium Intake
Cost: $4.99 each
When it comes to salt, I cannot quite figure when enough is enough. Am I really taking too much or is perfectly acceptable? And it is one of those things I really have no time to think about. As a Mom, I sometimes have 2 minutes to eat before dealing with another family situation.
I want to limit my every day sodium intake without going crazy about it.
Salt Shaker with a measuring cup.
This is a salt shaker with a built-in dispenser. Measures and dispenses a precise amount each. All you have to turn top chamber to desired measurement or rotate the lid over the large chamber for free pour.
You can pick between pinch, 1/8 tsp or 1/4 tsp. Recommended sodium intake is 1,500 to 2,300 mg a day, so limiting consumption of salt can just help you to stay away from hypertension, edema and stroke. If you are not thrilled with a taste of under-salted food, consider adding herbs, spices, lemon juice, vinegars or black pepper instead. It is natural and helps to absorb nutrients by the body.
The stand of the salt shaker is also a measuring cup for when you need one – just twist and pull.
