Fall is in full swing and before we know it, Thanksgiving will be upon us. We’ve gathered up some of our favorite Thanksgiving Activities Kids will Love to share with you this year!
I know that the idea of that delicious meal and the family being together is exciting for everyone, but the kids especially get excited because Thanksgiving is the first big day of the holiday season!
The bummer part though is that as parents we are so busy cooking, cleaning and preparing for family to arrive, we have no time to think of how bored our children are during this time.
Today let’s check some of the clever activities we can entertain the kids with on a Fall boring day!
Epic Thanksgiving Activities Kids will Love
So how can you keep the kids busy and enjoying the season? Well, with fun Thanksgiving activities of course! If you would like to get a start on ideas, here are some of our favorite ideas to keep kids busy while having fun!
Create Thankful Lists
Hand the kids a piece of paper and fun, Fall colored markers. Have them write out the things that they are the most thankful for. Then, on Thanksgiving, have the kids read them out loud.
Thanksgiving Mad Libs
Create your very own Thanksgiving based mad-libs and enjoy the fun and hilarious results as you read them together.
Holiday Cookie Baking Party
Buy some cookie cutters in fun Thanksgiving shapes and have a cookie baking and decorating party.
Pin the Feathers on Turkey
Like the classic Pin the Tail on the Donkey, the kids will love this fun game that can keep them busy for a while and have fun! Idea: In the spirit of the holiday, offer mini personalized pies as prizes.
Create Placemats
Buy orange sheets of construction paper and give the kids some crayons or colored markers. Let them create and decorate their own placemat for the Thanksgiving dinner table.
Coloring Paper Tablecloth
Do the kids have their own table to enjoy their dinner? If so, use craft paper to cover the entire table (secure with tape).
Draw shapes throughout the paper and create a centerpiece of crayons for the kids to color throughout the Thanksgiving celebration.
Gourd Decoration
Find some tiny pumpkins and cute gourds and paint them to use as your Thanksgiving decorations. You can use thanksgiving colors or paint them silver and/or gold to make your room sparkle.
You can use regular silver craft paint, or even buy a can of spray paint to do it. The spray paint, I have found works best with the gold and silver colors.
What fun activities have your children enjoyed the holidays? This list of Thanksgiving activities is a great place to begin. Children love being involved, but sometimes it is tough when you want to keep them safe and out of the kitchen.
These little fun projects are ideal for keeping them out of the way so nothing happens, and will also provide some fun decor for the day of your Thanksgiving dinner!
