Have you fired up your grill yet? For weeks, I have looked at our neighbors grilling and smoking, while we couldn’t spare an hour for a proper backyard dinner, but finally, last week the season has officially started for us too – thanks to the recipes I found at the Spring Into Flavor.
Not that long ago browsing through the Walmart’ freezer sections I stumbled across Alexia frozen fries and onion rings and thought to myself: How would these come out on the grill? Why grill frozen fries? Why not? Considering how much oil we would usually use for in-oven cooking, the grill would be much faster, easier to use, uses almost no oil, and don’t forget the distinct smoky flavor! And if you have never tried cooking in a foil pouch, you are missing out a big time – I think this is an incredible idea considering that one foil bag can give you a complete meal from a grill straight to a plate.
When looking for a perfect grill foil, go for the heaviest foil you can find! Pick a box of thin economy foil and your dinner will burn before you even get your plates ready. Heavy duty foil costs more than a couple bucks, has a heavier gauge, provides even heat distribution, and will help you grill an excellent meal in no time.
And when it comes to choices of frozen fries, I am a huge fan of Alexia brand! This company uses only natural products and by adding a great variety of seasoning, creates bold, unforgettable flavors. Who knew that good old sweet potato can come in so many different types?
My personal favorite? I love Alexia Sweet Potato Fries with Sea Salt. A hint of sea salt makes this potato taste delicious and with the combination with vegetables, it is for sure is a “must try” dish. I also highly recommend you try the Spicy Sweet Potato and Rosemary and Sea Salt Fries and fall in love with the quality and versatility of these products – grill or bake them in a variety of dishes.
Get your grill fired up!
There is more than one way to assemble a foil pouch. My favorite is double seal and foil: cut a piece of foil 18 x 12 and lay it down flat. Fold all the edges (approx. 1/2 inches wide) and when finished filling your pouch, fold the sheet in half and make another fold on all sides. Press it down hard to make sure your bag stays together.
Members of my family have different food preferences, but here is my general observation: girls in my house love their vegetables, and the boys are strictly into meats and potatoes. That is why today we will be making two grilled dinner pouches – one rich in color and fiber and another – an ultimate meat lover’s indulgence.

The peppers and sausage sounds like a yummy and easy dinner. Thanks for the inspiration.

Foil packet dinners are great! You can do the same thing in the oven, with those tin pie pans, just put two together so you have a lid. Easy way to enjoy the same flavors when it’s cold or raining!
what an awesome idea! this looks like a delicious dinner!
Sounds like a very good meal idea that I would love. We have a new grill and are always up for new meal creations.
