If you have kids home for the summer, you are probably wondering how you are going to accomplish keeping the house in order while they are home every day. This is especially true for those of you moms and dads that want to keep the kids entertained and having fun during their break. These Home Cleaning Tips That Entertain Kids are the ideal solution for your problems!
Home Cleaning Tips That Entertain Kids
So how do you do it? How do you manage to do all of the home cleaning necessary and keep your kids happy at the same time? Well, here are some tips that you can follow that will help you do just that.
Have a schedule
Go ahead and create a summer schedule for yourself and the kids. Put the housework at the first part of the day so you can just do it and get it over with and have the rest of the day planned out for fun!
Maximize cleaning shortcuts
The cleaning chores don’t need to take hours. You might be surprised to learn how much you can accomplish in one episode of Dora the Explorer if you have a system. For example, an automatic toilet cleaner such as 2000 Flushes® Toilet Bleach will keep your toilet clean for up to four months as it uses powerful chlorine to bleach away toilet stains. It will also maintain the bowl continuously sanitary, stain-free and deodorized. Nobody likes scrubbing the toilet – and a trick like this might save hours overtime.
It is also great to know that 2000 Flushes Toilet Bleach kills 99.9% of bacteria! Its unique formula freshens your bowl and keeps the water crystal clear with every flush. Want to try it out? Click HERE to get $1 off your 2000 Flushes purchase and HERE to find where to buy it.
Have the kids help
There are countless studies out there that tell us that kids should do chores. It is an important part of their growth. If they grumble about it, remind them that many hands make lighter work. That means that the more help you have, the easier and quicker the work will be and the sooner the fun can happen. However, while your helpers can do a lot, please do keep them away from the household chemicals.
Create a reward system
Why not create a fun reward system for your kids to do chores? You can do something as simple as a trip to the ice cream shop after one week of making their beds without asking, for example. If your kids are older, money is always a great motivator. Many rewards can be offered. Getting kids involved in the day to day home cleaning sometimes does require a bit of a bribe, but that is okay. Earning a reward is a good way to teach them.
Turn up the tunes.
We all like music, right? Why not crank up the tunes and have a fun dance party/chore session? It’s not boring and honestly, can make it a little fun.
Make it a game
Set a timer and have a race with your kids to see how quickly you can get a job done. You might be surprised, but “How fast can we clean the kitchen?” can be a fun game to play.
Fun Fact
Did you know that you can use your vacuum’s dust attachment to remove dust from your walls and then remove greasy fingerprints with soap and water before repainting them? This is one of many tips I discovered over on the Stain Fighting Community Facebook page. Check out their solid carpet cleaning tips too!

Awesome tips! Some of my favorite ways to get kids to help clean are to let them wear dusting “shoes” that are microfiber dust rags and walk over hardwood floors, to let them help wash the family car, and to let them help wash the windows, they can spray the squirt bottle, parents can do the wiping.
My kids love to dust and see the dust on their clothes. That really motivates them to clean up well.
