However, I am happy to have this great product on board as I am sharing my tricks to a cleaner house.
Figuring out the best Toilet Cleaner Tips for our family bathroom has been an adventure. I’ll be honest, I have a great imagination, and in the perfect world, my house looks amazing inside and out any time of the week, my kitchen is spacious, my couches are comfy, and my freshly remodeled bathroom is like a getaway to paradise.
However, most of us (me included) live in a different reality, where the words “house” and “perfect” wouldn’t even be listed in the same paragraph. My kitchen table can’t comfortably fit my whole family, and the bathroom remodeling keeps getting pushed off my wish list by other more pressing expenses.
Best Toilet Cleaner Tips for Your Family Bathroom
If your family has to share a bathroom you know firsthand that is almost impossible to keep it clean. It is called a family bathroom for a reason – mine serves five family members and most of the time that means mess is unavoidable. So, how do you make it easier to manage? Especially when it comes to that most used part of the bathroom?
Since I believe in finding creative solutions for everyday problems I came up with a few tips that address any family bathroom problem areas. Thank you 2000 Flushes for inspiring me to deal with my messy bathroom finally. The following family bathroom ideas focus on toilet cleaner tips and suggestions to keep your family safe and your bathroom clean.
Problem Area: Bathtub
With so many bottles of shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and sponges it seems impossible to take a shower without knocking things down
or stepping on something.
Solution:
While you might not want to admit it, you need to separate and organize the supplies. I purchased a second Shower curtain rod, $3 baskets, and shower curtain hooks to create this storage solution. Positioned against the wall, it creates a perfect separation.
Problem Area: Toilet
You have to agree that a toilet in a family bathroom handles a lot of abuse. I swear it goes from clean to super unattractive way too fast with a help of my family members! That’s why the right toilet cleaner is a MUST!
It is the inside, the outside, and all the way around. It might be something mothers of girls would not understand, but if you are a lucky mother of a boy (or boys), you know first-hand “the aim problem,” “the seat problem,” and “the combination of an aim and seat problem.”
Solution
To make a toilet – the hardest working part of the bathroom – stay cleaner longer you might need to: automate, disinfect, and redefine a few things.
For this project, I used 2000 Flushes Automatic Toilet Bowl Cleaner, a load of disinfecting wipes, and a paper towel rack.
Step 1:
Admit it, a box of disinfecting wipes within your reach is the easiest way to go from yuck to clean quick. Set a garbage bag next to you and get cleaning.
Step 2:
2000 Flushes Automatic Toilet Bowl Cleaner cleans and deodorizes with every flush, keeping your toilet fresh and clean and making your scrubbing easier for up to four months at a time.
Because my hardworking toilet deserves the best, I went with 2000 Flushes® Blue Plus Bleach. This variety of 2000 flushes uses the combined power of bleach and blue detergents to keep a bowl sparkling, sanitary and deodorized.
Scrub the toilet (including under the rim).
Cut both of the packages open (don’t touch the tablets with your hands – keep them in the packaging). Flush the toilet and drop both tablets onto the far right corner of the tank before it fills up with water.
Consider your toilet cleaned!
Step 3:
Who likes running out of toilet paper? Not me! Use a cheap paper towel rack to store a few rolls of toilet paper within reach to avoid uncomfortable moments – I keep mine right behind the toilet.
Problem: Sink Area
With so many people around, every little thing ends up on the counter top – from toys to clothes – and I can never find what I need when I need it.
Solution:
I admire people who keep countertop empty, but I don’t believe it’s possible in my house. However, here are some things that helped me take my mess under control to make morning routines manageable.
Under the Sink Storage
Anything that you think should be stored under the sink can be separated and placed in different containers. Now I know that my cleaning supplies and personal hygiene products won’t get even close to each other.
More Storage
Does your family bathroom have spaces that can be used for storage? I found a perfect spot for a plastic Four Drawer Tower that helped me separate dental products, my husband things, hair essentials, and my own valuables. That means practically everything in the bathroom now has its place.
More Stuff?
Somehow we always have the excessive supply of shampoos, soaps, and other things. Since these will not be used for a while, I place them in a black storage container with a lid.
We also use these stackable shoe boxes
And try to avoid storing anything on the floor.
I hope these tips for how to keep your family bathroom clean and organized help make your routine easier. I think you need to come and organize my bathroom. We have a dog and so I’m always worried they’re going to drink out of the toilet but so far this dog does not do that to so I may consider getting these 2000 Flushes.

A very good point. We are thinking of adopting a dog, but I have been making a point of keeping the doors locked because of the toddler.

I am so going to get a spare shower curtain rod and start using it. We never have space in our tiny shower! One of my favorite bathroom hacks is cleaning the toilet with white vinegar, add one cup, let it sit for 15 minutes, and flush. It keeps the smell from building up over the week and doesn’t have a toxic smell like all of the other cleaning products.
Lena Burkut says
That is so cool! I will try that with our other bathroom that is accessible to a toddler!

I love your little baskets idea in the tub. We have a basket by the tub with all the bath toys but the hanging baskets would really save space.

Your shower pole idea with the basics is GENIUS. I am so going to steal this. An idea that works great for us is a curved shower rod. Helps so much when kids get bigger and there is more room in the shower.

Cleaning the bathroom is never a fun chore but your ideas will definitely make it easier. I need to get more storage boxes for organization. It’s hard to clean with all the clutter.

I need to follow these tips. We only have one bathroom in our home and it is small. The joys of living in military housing.

I so need to get that for our toilets. I totally agree that kids seems to instantaneously make a mess (especially the ones potty training). Thanks for sharing your tips with us at Merry Monday this week!
