You can enjoy the summer months swimming the day away and come back to the same resort during the winter and hit the slopes and hot chocolate by the fire. Big Cedar Lodge in Ridgedale, Missouri.

Straight out of a postcard; this family resort is gorgeous. It is on the southern tip of Table Rock Lake and has rooms that overlook the lake. If you are interested in putting on an adventure for your family, this place is it! There is horseback riding, a full-service marina, fishing, golfing and trails for walking, biking, and hiking. It is one of the best resorts out there for families as they provide endless activities for the kids. They have themed interactive activities such as archery, dive-in movies, and Kids Fishing Bonanza.

Another bonus of this location is how close it is to the popular Branson, Missouri destination.  That means there are tons of theme parks, restaurants, shows, and more to see in this Ozark region that will entertain the entire family for a full week of fun at one of our favorite Midwest family vacations destinations.

Tee Lake Resort in Lewiston, Michigan.

Right in the woods and out of the 1930s era these beautiful lakeside cabins that have been remodeled with vintage décor. Be one with nature and enjoy all that it has to offer here at Lewiston, Michigan. Spend the morning fishing, benefit from the scenery while golfing or float your cares away in the lake. End the night at the campfire, roasting yummy marshmallows and telling your children about your favorite childhood stories.

Since this destination is just a short drive from the Michigan Upper Peninsuala, you can even fill your time with a tour of the best waterfalls in the region.  Michigna is one of the best destinations for outdoor fun year round, so whether you want to jet ski or snow ski, this is a sure choice to please your family.

Kalahari Resorts in Wisconsin Dells, WI.

For your thrill-seeking children, they will love the Kalahari Resort. There is a crazy amount of water slides, rides and just plain adventure at this resort that it will keep your little ones running around and ensuring a quiet evening for us parents. There is truly something here for all ages of your family. It is all indoors so you can go any time of the year. Between the water park inside, go karting, bumper boats, and bowling lanes, there are just too many activities to list right here! Make sure to try the pizza. Word going around is that it is a pretty traditional tasty treat.

The Wisconsin Dells region has so much to offer, but this is definitely the best option in the region.  Whether you want indoor or outdoor water park, Kalahari is always a favorite for kids and adults for safety, fun, and adventure!

Ludlow’s Island Resort in Cook, Minnesota.

Looking for a quieter vacation with your family? A bit more private, perhaps? Well, you can’t get more private or quiet than visiting the Ludlow’s Island Resort that sits on its very own private island. These beautifully handcrafted cottages are completely picturesque. During the summer the Ludlow’s staff puts on a variety of activities for kids. They can learn to make dreamcatchers, have fishing derbies and end the night with pizza and a movie. The island is made of childlike exploration and imagination. It is a great cure to the electronics overload all of our kids seem to be attached to and discover nature.

This is an ideal destination for the family looking to get a bit more off the grid and to uncheck from social media for a few days.  Spend time exploring the island and just relax as a family!
