The house cleaning creative activities, thoughts, and opinions are all mine!
Have you had a great time celebrating the holidays? I know I have. The fun and joy of the kids being excited and those smiles… man, those smiles are the best, aren’t they? Maybe that’s why you back down a little when it comes to messes during the holidays. You want your kids to have fun and not stress too much about messes that they are creating. Or is that just me that does that?
With that being said, I almost always have quite a few messes to clean up after the holidays. The messes come from seemingly everything too. Tinsel from the tree, toy pieces and parts from the kids, wrapping paper and bows hidden in all areas and the food. Oh, my goodness, the spilled food and drink is the worst of the holiday messes, but that’s ok! I try to take it all in stride. Plus, this year I am using Spot Shot® Instant Carpet Stain Remover to clean up spills and messes on my floor. In the past, I have used it for mud and pet stains, so I already know that food spills would be no biggie.
In case you haven’t used Spot Shot before, here is a little bit of info from the company:
Spot Shot is specially formulated to safely eliminate stains and tough odors and keep them from coming back. It is proven to work on stains old and new. Don’t let your fear of set in stains keep you from trying!
Spot Shot features odor eliminators that help to absorb and neutralize odors. It has been approved by the Carpet and Rug Institute for product performance with Anti-Resoiling agents protect the carpet.
However, let’s get back to those pesky holiday messes. If you find yourself dealing with spilled food or drink, I have seen that the best way to deal with these types of stains is to make it a one time deal and get rid of them and my experience with Spot Shot allowed me to do just that.
Here’s my experience with Spot Shot for cleaning up my holiday food messes:
My kids were too excited to eat their pie and didn’t pay much attention to the fact that they were dropping pieces of their it (not to mention their sparkling apple cider) all over the carpet. Luckily I already had some Spot Shot on hand and decided to follow the instructions one by one so that it had the best chance of cleaning up the stain.
- First I took a clean rag to the stain and tried to blot it up the stain. I used to forget this step, I always tried to rub the stain out and that never works.
- Next, I vacuumed the spot to remove any loose food pieces.
- I then sprayed the Spot Shot onto the stain.
- Finally, I blotted at the spot with a second clean rag.
After my first run through, I noticed a considerable difference, but I did repeat the last two steps one time just to be on the safe side. I didn’t want to be thinking it was gone only to discover otherwise once it dried. It worked very well, and I am pleased to have had Spot Shot on hand to take care of these little spills with little stress.
