I don’t get out often, and when my husband and I do go to the restaurants, it is most likely with children and to very kids-friendly fast-food restaurants. However, my husband loves fancy dishes. He loves making them, and I love eating them. However, my children run on mac-n-cheese, chicken nuggets, and pizza and have no appreciation for excellent cuisine. One time, Alex made chicken breast stuffed with cream cheese and spinach wrapped in bacon. He spent hours working on the dish, and the kids’ response was – urgh, what is that?
Can the kids and us have what we want? Recently Green Chef sent us one of their subscription boxes to try.
Green Chef is a food box subscription company. They handpick organic, sustainably sourced ingredients from our trusted community of ranchers, farmers, fishermen, and artisans. Next, they take care of a whole lot of prep, from chopping to making unique sauces, dressings, and spice blends. At last, they deliver them — fresh and pre-measured — along with diverse, chef-crafted recipes, making it easy, fast, and fun to cook nourishing, delicious dinners at home.
And they have choices – pick one of seven famous diets and food styles – Omnivore, Carnivore, Gluten-Free, Vegan, Paleo, Vegetarian, and Keto, and they come in 2-people and family variety.
We decided to go with CARNIVORE as it includes lots of protein and vegetables. Each box comes with one sea and two land proteins along with generous portions of veggies.
Last things first – every dish we made was delicious! And it was as fancy as you would expect a meal from a fancy restaurant to be. Except it was in my kitchen!
Every entree comes with a whole bunch of little packets that include every little thing needed for the recipe and a descriptive card with pretty pictures and step-by-step instructions.
The price per entree starts at 10.49, so it is like having a $25 dinner plate at the upscale restaurant for about ten bucks.
