DIY Pirates Halloween Couples Costumes
I bet you can find plenty of clothes to help you little pirate look the part – loose shorts or skirt, black t-shirt, but to be a real pirate you need three elements: a vest, a hat, and a patch.
How to make a Pirate Vest
- Using a brown shopping bag. {Mine came from Trader Joes.} Cut the handles and a bottom off.
- Cut it in the middle of the wider panel to create an opening and also cut a hole on the top for the collar.
- Two holes on the sides – just big enough to for the arms and you are in business.
- Spray paint the vest with black color or do what I did – turn it inside out to hide the print on the inside.
How to make a Pirate Hat with a Patch
This is the easiest template you can find online.
Tape the eye patch to one of the panels to avoid dealing with a separate costume piece.
If you plan to dress up both of your kids into the pirates costumes, make minor alterations – pink hat instead of black and slightly girlish outfit. And here you have – Easy DIY Halloween Couples Costumes that work for kids and adults!
