I am at the awkward stage of my pregnancy, where the people who know me well are aware of my pregnancy. I think it is very obvious, but most people around (who are not my Facebook friends) have no idea.
I have been pregnant for a whole 20 weeks (feels like a year) and most people have NO IDEA!
It is a little bit annoying, but if I really think about – it is a good thing and here is why:
- Strange people do not have an excuse to touch my belly and I don’t have to stand in the defending stand to protect my stomach from the attackers
- I don’t have to answer questions like: Are you going to find out who you are having? Was it planned? How does it feel to have a baby in your age?
- I can eat a big lunch and say, “Oh, I ate a lot, I think my lunch is kicking back”
- I can walk around knowing that “I have a secret and you don’t know it”
Second trimester is known to be the honeymoon of pregnancy – you are not yet uncomfortable by the growing bun, yet the nausea and the lack of energy takes a backseat.
Problems of the second trimester honeymoon
Ouch to my ankles.
Despite my dietary restrictions and cautions, my ankles look swollen and often look like they have a miniature spare tire on them.
Good news: Eventually the belly will be too big for me to see my feet or care about it
Is it indigestion or a baby kicking
Yes, I want to answer to the people I know, “Yes, my baby is kicking”, but half the time I am not sure if I am just having a tummy moment.
Good News: Just a feeling of a move (even if this is indigestion) is very memorable
Oh. My. Heartburn,
I had the heartburn throughout my previous pregnancies and I feel it coming back this time around again.
Good news: I am assuming that this baby will have beautiful hair (just like his brother and sister).

I remember this stage during my pregnacy. My biggest challenge was dealing gall stones I didn’t know I had until I was about 16 weeks pregnant. That part was not pleasant!

My husband and I were just talking recently about people asking about when you are due when you are not even pregnant. I also remember when I was pregnant and no one noticed because I was a size 18.

Congrats!
And re: Kelly’s comment above … my rule (and should be most people’s rule, IMO) is NEVER ask if someone is pregnant. If they want to let you know, they will. I went to a get-together a while back where a high school friend of mine was pregnant, and an older lady later asked me “Are you the pregnant one?” :-/
(I’m a size 18 as well)

The last pregnancy was the hardest on me, but overall I had it pretty easy. Hope you find comfort!

My body did not like being pregnant, but I miss the experience of being so connected with my babies. The thing with people touching me when I didn’t know them….ugh, that bothered me.
Cristi Comes says
Oh pregnancy! I so not miss that. It really is not fun for so many reasons. But I’m sure you are rocking it!

I loved when I got to the point where my pregnant belly was obvious, I felt so self-conscious in the early stages. So, I can completely relate there. Here’s hoping for a comfortable and easy second trimester for you!

I’ve not had children so I can’t really empathize. I don’t want to offer platitudes either so I don’t know what I can write. Are the kids excited? I hope you feel better? Do you get to enjoy some ice cream?

I had horredous heartburn with #1. I can think about it to this day and just shudder. I feel for you sweetie.

I remember the constant heartburn and swollen ankles. It was torture and I could barely walk sometimes. The video you posted was so funny! I really enjoyed it.
