It seems like not that long ago I was complaining about the so-called honeymoon of pregnancy (aka the second trimester). However, with the third trimester knocking on my window, I have to tell you – the second trimester went by too fast.
I feel that the first trimester was a very scary, uncertain time for all of mine pregnancies – I was constantly afraid that something would go wrong. I only wish I could feel my baby move to know that everything is ok instead of relying on the monthly doctor’s visit for the heartbeat confirmation. These 30 second of the heartbeat through the Doppler was the happiest time of my month. One time I had a scare emergency visit with unplanned ultrasound and unplanned exam – I was afraid… I was so afraid… I was happy when I finally crossed the second trimester benchmark.
The second trimester, I have to say I didn’t appreciate you enough. I enjoyed the energy I regained once again and I went on with my business pretending that the pregnancy doesn’t affect any area of my life. I didn’t enjoy my doctor’s visits anymore (maybe because I also started getting the bills from the doctor’s office and realized once again the costs associated with these visits). I also discovered that I have weird cravings… for salad. I am not complaining. However, I could eat meat and potato and still be hungry until I eat a salad. Or I could just eat a salad and be perfectly happy. Once again, I am so not complaining.
What’s next? The longest trimester of them all? I have to say, the third trimester feels like it is six months long and this time it decided to announce itself with sciatica pains, more heartburn. 30 minutes of trick-or-treating with the kids and I felt like a senior citizen for the next two days. Am I that old? Psst, don’t answer that. I was still joking about having an invisible pregnancy a week ago, since my stomach didn’t seem to get any bigger. Well, that is over – Inow feel like a Russian nesting doll and sometimes even dress up like one too. However, a friend of mine did say that I might still look like I am very fat (silly girl!)
Am I the only one?…
