This post was sponsored by GM. We are proud to be a part of their holiday campaign. #ChevyShopsforGood
What would you do if someone gave you $500? Would you go on a little vacation? Pay off some credit card balances or loans? Go on a shopping spree?
What if someone would give you $500 and ask you to give it away? Chevy invited our family to participate in their Chevy Shops for Good Campaign. They gave us their Chevy Traverse for two weeks (possibly to make me fall in love with the luxury), took us out for a fun weekend in Chicago and asked us to deliver $500 worth of toys to a charity.
My kids don’t get to go to the city often, so everything was an AAH! experience for them – a fancy hotel and a city bowling club (Thank you GM, both were incredible!), a whole day at the Toy and Game Fair, a brisk city walk to the restaurant for breakfast (we don’t have anything within walkable distance). I couldn’t think of a better way to spend the weekend!
However, I am sure yo can’t wait to hear about the project we worked on.
(One day I will figure out how to be on both sides of the camera, but even if you don’t see me in the video, just trust me – I am there – just on the other side of the camera)
Instead of giving business to a big box store, we thought that a family owned store would appreciate being a part of this project so much more. That’s why we went to the Building Blocks Toy Store in Chicago. Katherine, the owner of the store is an incredible support to the local community. All you see from the street is a cute little store that is filled with toys and games for any child. However, Building Blocks store contributes to many programs and charities in the area.
The kids had so much fun at the store while putting together a care package for one special organization, but we didn’t just shop – we played a lot!
Chevy Traverse comfortably accommodated our whole family and the donations we were bringing to our destination. It’s an amazing car – with so much to offer for us and the kids.
Association House of Chicago provides a variety of services to the local communities – from social services to child welfare, from education development to mental health services and so much more. This holiday season they are planning to bring gifts to 1,000 kids! Can you think of a better place for our delivery?
You can imagine how happy everyone was at the Association House of Chicago to get these gifts. Kids also had a chance to help with packing gifts for the Christmas party.
It’s an amazing feeling, when you know you made a difference. I can’t thank GM and Chevy team enough for helping us deliver smiles to the kids of the Association House of Chicago
