Thanksgiving Treats – Simple and Easy: Pilgrim Hats

I don’t know about you, but our Halloween activities usually result in over 10 lbs of candy and I DO NOT want my kids to eat them all, so I have suggested we do something fun with them. If you get creative, there are plenty of opportunities for doing something out of what you already have.  And today we will run a couple different scenarios for Pilgrim Hats Thanksgiving treats.

Have Halloween candy? We have a great idea for Thanksgiving

Ingredients

  • Fudge striped cookies
  • Jumbo size  Marshmallows
  • Chocolate coating: I used a chocolate bar, but I also wanted to try a chocolate Snack Pack pudding cup
  • Orange Frosting tube

Use a cookie sheet or a big plate to place the fudge striped cookies, stripes down.

Melt the chocolate in 20 second increments until liquid and easy to stir. Dip and roll your marshmallows.

Place a marshmallow on top of a cookie and finish covering using a knife or a spoon. Cool it in a freezer for a couple of hours.

After the hat cooled, add an orange icing buckle and trim

With the second option I used knife to spread the pudding over the marshmallow  and you have to agree, this hat looks rather sad.

Freezing for some reason doesn’t affect pudding and even after hours spent on the freezer shelf it doesn’t look as well as a chocolate version

At least the next time around I know which coating works best and I think it looks pretty good, don’t you?
