Thanksgiving Treats – Simple and Easy: Tepee

I couldn’t wait to start this project because it looks super fun and is very easy to do. Besides that I still have Halloween candy in my house and that is just not right – so I am continuing to make Thanksgiving treats.

Thanksgiving Tepee DIY - use the ingredients you already have! One of the easiest Thanksgiving recipes that you can make with kids. Kids friendly and easy desserts in no time

What will you need:

  • Sugar cones
  • A can of frosting (or if you prefer to make your frosting – confectioners’ sugar, unsalted butter, and some milk)
  • Cake-decorating icing
  • Decorative candies
  • Toothpicks

Making Frosting

I didn’t feel that much of a difference between using a store bought icing and a homemade version, but if you prefer to save a dollar, mix a cup of confectioners’ sugar, 1/8 cup of softened, unsalted butter. Stir in a bit of milk to make sure your frosting is spreadable and soft.

Assembling

Ice the ice cream cones and place them in the freezer for a few minutes to get thicker (it won’t actually harden though)

And let your imagination run wild

Homemade frosting Tepee

Use the tube icing to create the pattern and small candies or bits of candies to make them super awesome looking. I used Nerds and absolutely loved it.

Store bought frosting tepee

It does seem that the store bought frosting made a whiter tepee, but otherwise all of them came out very delicious and super fun to make

What a fun idea, the kids would love to decorate cones into teepees and then I’m sure scoop some ice cream on top for an even better treat.
