Last year changes to my work insurance policy have given me some sad thoughts: I am paying more and I am getting less coverage – it is as easy as that! I have no other choice, but really consider my options before heading to the doctor’s office. However, since last summer I’ve discovered Walgreens healthcare clinic Chicago, I feel like I have more options when it comes to my family health. Today looking back I can a think of a few times I wish
I went to Healthcare Clinic Chicago
1. Vacation Fever
Location: Wisconsin Dells, WI
When: November 2013
What happened: We love going to the Wisconsin resorts in winter. There is still a lot to do, but without crowds of people it is just more enjoyable. However, as soon as we arrived to our vacation destination last year, it became obvious that my son had a fever. Instead of enjoying our time off, we spent plenty of time in the hotel room, making sure the little guy was comfortable. I sure could of used some professional help, but being out of my home state made me feel quite unprotected.
2. School Note
Location: Chicago Suburbs, IL
When: December, 2013
What happened: My son’s school had a few cases of conjunctivitis and when his teacher felt that my son’s eye whites were not exactly white, I got the call. I knew it wasn’t a pink eye, since my son was fighting a different condition and I already had an appointment scheduled for the next day. I just wish I walked into the Walgreens healthcare clinic instead of settling for the next day appointment at the medical center. As a result, I had to take time off work, drive to school to pick up my child, and argue with the receptionist at the medical office, because we needed a doctor’s note to come back to school the next day.
3. School Check-Up
When: August, 2013
Location: Chicago Suburbs, IL
What Happened: August is the busiest month of the year, because it is seems to be a good old tradition for all local parents to go school supply shopping and go through the annual school physicals at the same time. There is something about the unity and friendly competition while trying to find an item on the school list or sitting elbow to elbow in the doctor’s office. I am joking, of course – I hate fighting crowds, but last year I didn’t have my school papers in-check and here I was sitting between a curious sneezing toddler and a teenager playing a shooting video game. Lesson learned – Walgreens waiting rooms are much better alternatives and are less crowded.
4. Travel medication
When: July, 2012
Location: Buffalo, NY
What Happened: I have a hypothyroidism, but to be perfectly honest with you, I don’t manage my medication too well. You would think that after 7 years of having this condition, I would know when to refill the meds and when to go to the doctor’s office for a blood test. A couple years ago at the campground on a family vacation, I realized I ran out of medication and refills. Oops! Knowing now that Healthcare Clinic handles vacation medication as well as they do chronic conditions, I would of had much happier vacation.
5. Burning Face
When: February, 2012
Location: Key West, FL
What Happened: When it comes to sun tanning, my dear husband possesses two qualities – he hates using sunblock and he burns easily. Even when he does put the lotion on, he forgets some parts of the body. The result is always the same – cranky sun burned husband, who doesn’t know how to manage the burns. I suspect that a trip to the Walgreens healthcare clinic would of made a better alternative to scouting gift shops for the burn relief lotions.
What is one time you could of used the help of a healthcare clinic?
