Who will you give your Valentines Day card to this year? How about someone who fought for our good night sleep? Creatively Caring (local non-profit organization) organized a really cool event at Nibbles play caffe (Wheeling, IL).
One for you and One for me was a great creative event. Kids got to make a snowman stick to take home and put together unique Valentines cards for the hospitalized veterans and solders overseas.
For this event, Nibbles play cafe had a special Free admission for the participants. Little volunteers had a chance to practice their crafting skills while making a special card for a soldier.
I love the fact that through simple projects like this one we can teach our kids important values of life – giving to others doesn’t have to be complicated and even 5 minutes of your time WILL mean the world to somebody else.
Kathleen, the owner of Nibbles, also provided raffle prizes for anyone who participated in this community event.
Creatively Caring works with local businesses and non-profit organizations to enrich our community through fun, family service projects. Families with children of all ages are encouraged to participate in our projects which help people, animals and the environment.
Nibbles Play Cafe is a fusion of cafe and kids indoor play place, where adults can relax and young children keep busy in imaginative play! Nibbles has committed to support community and its members.

I love this! I have so many friends with husbands who are deployed and I KNOW how much they cherish cards from random citizens showing their appreciation. They KEEP them. What a great opportunity to teach our kids about giving and gratitude.
New follower! Would love to have you follow me back

This is a great idea! I am a strong believer in finding little learning moments in everyday experiences – this is a perfect example of that.

It is important to teach children about giving back. These soldiers deserve this gratitude and gesture.

How wonderful! Teaching children to give back at an early age is easier than most people think. By making it fun (like demonstrated in your blog post), they'll want to do it more and more!

How awesome! I will have to search for a similar organization in our area. We just made our valentines and I'm sure we have extras to share with our Vets.
