Have you ever seen these kind of trailers on the road? If you have, you probably wondered what it is, but before you could take a close look at it, it was gone. Well, today is the day you get to see it up close and personal.
The Weehoo i-Go puts a new spin on the classic concept of a bicycle trailer with this one-of-a-kind pedal trailer. The Weehoo is a one-of-a-kind pedal bicycle trailer, accommodates kids 38″ to 52″ tall, up-to 75 lbs, the i-Go easily attaches to, and detaches from, your bicycle for travel and storage.
Our opinion if very fresh since we have been toying with it for a few weeks and here is the good, the bad, and “I wish…” we formed so far.
It is a nice and streamlined solution slim enough to go through narrow passes unlike two-wheeled counterparts yet wide enough to keep the passenger comfortable. It weighs about the same as the two-wheeled frames but it’s still easier to ride with because it’s a one-wheel platform. Comfort wise I can only go by what my kids tell me and they seem to be comfortable with the ride. Each seat is equipped with a good 3-point harness and pedal straps to keep the feet on the pedals.
It definitely beats the child add-on for the grown up bicycle by the level of comfort on the long rides. Kids have a flexibility of pedaling at the slower speed, which will help you as a rider when you are going up the heel. If you are going faster than your child spins, you are not actually getting the benefit of their spinning, yet still get to feel like there are contributing to the process. When tired, they can just stop pedaling and relax. Though WeeHoo is a fully customizable solution, it gives you better interaction with your child. There is plenty of room behind to mount tale lights.
Our “little rider’s club” likes to drag a backpack full of toys around (trails included) and there are plenty of pockets and bags to store everything including snacks and drinks which are definitely needed on long rides. Another thing we’ve been dreaming of but yet we couldn’t do much until now is going to narrow wooded trails. We recently came across this video of WeeHoo on the off-road trail and looking forward to the next opportunity to try something like that. If this trailer is capable of doing this, we are up for it. Well, it won’t do the crazy stuff 🙂 but otherwise … watch that video.

With all the excitement we had about this trailer there are a few things we found we thought would be important enough to mention. First and foremost, unlike with most 2-wheeled trailers where you’d have the canapé, kids will have to wear eye protection while riding WeeHoo. Though there is a shield between them and your rear wheel there are plenty of things around that you don’t want to fly into your child’s face.
While going through turns at higher speeds, the slack in joints in combination with a child moving excessively might make you lose control of the steering wheel, as the actual carriage will move around a bit. It might not going to affect you on the pavement, but keep it in mind when riding off road especially until you know your trailer well and hold on tight onto your steering wheel. The trailer uses hybrid tires which might not have as good of a grip as your aggressive off-road tires. Slower speed resolves that issue since you’ll be more upright on your bike (and not affected as much by the carriage movement) than while going hot through the same turn.

That’s really cool & a great way to bring along a child who couldn’t bike quite so far.

That is just what I need. My daughter can’t bike yet and I love to bike so now I could take her with me still!

I love that it even has little straps to keep the kids feet safe! I wish I had one of these when my daughter was little!

It does look so much more streamlined than other bike trailers I have seen. It’s so wonderful for families to be able to get out and bike together. You look like you are having so much fun!

The Weehoo looks like a great aid for any biking family. I love that it has extra seat cushion and protection in bucket seat form, as well as the grips for feet on the pedals!

I am in love with this bike trailer! Seriously that is awesome how the kit is strapped in well, but they can get exercise with pedaling too!

This is a great trailer. The smaller kids can participate, and the harness looks super safe and secure. Wishing this was around when my kids were that size!

I never thought about the necessity of a shield, that seems so smart. Do you kids mind wearing the eye protection?
