A little while back we explored Rockford, a city an hour away from our hometown in Chicago suburbs with a completely different vibe. It was incredibly fascinating to wander the streets of the town while trying to guess cultural influences that inspired architectural choices. We strolled through the downtown with the crowds and went to some different museums. However, the most unexpectedly exciting part of our trip was a hotel stay – and for a very peculiar reason.
The Radisson Hotel is close to everything yet is very quiet and family friendly. Situated close to I-90 in the Loves Park area of Rockford, IL, the Radisson offers the comfort of 114 contemporary rooms with a restaurant on-site.
While checking-in, I learned that apparently many pilots use Radisson hotel in Rockford. Located 20 minutes away from the local airport, proximity is not the only reason for this preference. Here they get special treatment! During the week all pilots get placed onto the specific quiet floors to let them rest before their next flight. At that point, I wanted to stay on that particular floor since it was the weekend and wanted to see a pilot.
If you always wanted to a try a sleep number bed but didn’t want to step your foot into the mattress store, you can give it a trial run here at the Raddison. I always wanted to try this expensive mattress and understand once and for all what is so exeptional about it?
Kids wanted to play with the remotes, but I was the one who had fun with it.
If you ever want to fill the difference between the numbers, set one side to the highest number and the other one to the lowest number and welcome your significant other to flop in the middle.
On my way back to the room after a late night run to the car, I did see the pilot. He was rolling his suitcase down the hallway, and I was tempted to snap a picture of him but thought he might not understand.
