Did you decide to finally take your child to the swim school, because the summer is just around the corner, and you want him/her to feel comfortable in the community pool on the beach, we have a few suggestions you might find useful, like what do you need to pack for your first swim class.
If your child has never attended a swim school and you are concerned about what to bring, we have the scoop for you to make sure you are ready for the before class, the class, and what comes after it.
What do you need?
Waterproof bag
Find a reasonably priced bag that would fit everything. It will last you for a while and will keep all the wetness in.
A Swim Towel
Nobody wants to change without drying up first. Consider bringing an extra towel, just in case
Good Googles
Buy a pair of good goggles from a reputable company and size them before the class. Make sure they fit well and your child is comfortable wearing them
Your Hair Accessories
Make sure to bring a hair tie if you have long hair or a swim cap if you don’t want to spend too much time blow-drying your hair. A shampoo, conditioner and a comb would help too. I also bring some coconut oil for my daughter’s hair to make sure her hair stays beautiful and shiny.
A Change of Clothes
Have your child wear the swimsuit under regular clothes when you come to the class. That would save you some valuable time and stress of being late to the class. However, do not forget to put a pair of underwear for your child into the swim bag. That is what we forget the most often
Snack and Drink
You want to make sure your child eats, at least, an hour before the class and drinks plenty of liquids. Skip the dessert, though – it would make a great after school treat. Also, bring a snack for after the class – your child will most likely be hungry.
Need another reason to join a swim school?
It is not just a lot of fun and a great exercise for the kids and an amazing booster of self-confidence. It is also a vital survival skill and a crash course of safety around water.
